Closure Information

In the event that heavy snow or an extreme weather event, natural disaster or other emergency should necessitate class cancelations or office closures, closure information will be communicated as follows:

UBC Vancouver Campus (not including UBC Hospital)

Faculty/staff/students
Listen to local radio stations or access the UBC website for information related to closures of the UBC Vancouver Campus. This would ONLY relate to academic sessions scheduled at the university.

Students (MD)
Students will be contacted by the relevant Program Manager for their year.

Students (health professions)
Contact your department/program office for updates.

Faculty & staff (departments/ schools/ centres)
Follow procedures as established by your department/office. Confirm operational status of Dean’s Office/divisions as required.

Faculty & staff (Dean’s Office: IRC building, Koerner Pavilion)
Contact Reception, Dean’s Office (IRC Building: 604-822-2421) for voicemail updates.

Faculty & staff (Dean’s Office: Life Sciences Centre)
Contact Reception, Life Sciences Centre (604-827-4282) for voicemail updates.

Hospital Sites – Vancouver

Students (MD)
Students will be contacted by the relevant Program Manager for their year.

Faculty & staff (Dean’s Office)
Division/Unit managers to contact Reception, MD Undergraduate Education office (604-875-4500) for voicemail updates, then notify staff of your unit’s status via a central voicemail message.

Faculty & staff (departments/schools/centres)
Follow procedures as specified by your department/office. Confirm operational status of Dean’s Office/divisions as required.

Island Medical Program (UVic)

Faculty (all sites)
Contact the Administrative Director (250-472-5511) for voicemail updates.

Staff (all sites)
Check your email for updates sent by the Administrative Director.

Students
Students will be contacted by the relevant Program Manager for their year.

Northern Medical Program (UNBC)

Faculty/staff/student employees
Listen to local radio stations, access the UNBC website or access the UNBC SAFE app for information about building closures related to the UNBC campus only.

Students
Student learners will be contacted by the relevant Program Manager for their year.

Southern Medical Program (UBC Okanagan Campus)

Faculty/staff/students
Listen to local radio stations or access the UBC Okanagan Campus website for information related to closures of the UBC Okanagan Campus. This would ONLY relate to academic sessions scheduled at the university.

Contact your main Reception or other central number established for your unit, as per your established policies and procedures.
