First year students are encouraged to showcase the biomedical research that they have conducted prior to starting medicine. Upper year students will have had more opportunities for research (e.g. SSRP, FLEX/DPAS, GHI) and are encouraged to present more recent or ongoing work. However, if this is not possible due to exceptional circumstances, please e-mail us for clarification.
Yes; but please indicate on the registration form whether your abstract could be published online.
SHARC welcomes presentations from all types of scholarship projects carried out at all four UBC MDUP sites. Students at distributed sites will have the opportunity to share their research by video-conferencing (VC).
Lightning Talks: students will present their lightning talk at their respective sites alongside presenters at LSC. The slides will be projected by VC to all sites.
Poster Presentation: students presenting their poster will do so via VC to Room 1312 in Vancouver. An 11x7 poster print out will be made available at LSC for attendees and judges (if involved in the competitive category). Because of the smaller size of the print out, students may need to adjust small text accordingly.
Also, if you have a multimedia project, email us at email@example.com and we will provide accommodations for your project.
Some suggestions that we have for print posters include:
Kinkos/Fed-Ex on Broadway (discount with UBC ID)
UBC Media Group printing services
Copiesmart at UBC Village
If you have any great places that you would recommend, please let us know!
Please provide your receipt for the poster to the registration desk on the day of the event. After the event, we use remaining funds to cover printing costs for those who have submitted their receipts.
