Three faculty members awarded the 2020 CAME Certificate of Merit Award

Three UBC faculty of medicine members are recipients of Canadian Association for Medical Education (CAME) Certificate of Merit Awards. The awards recognize and reward faculty committed to medical education in Canadian medical schools.

The recipients, Drs. Cary Cuncic, Parvathy Nair and Theresa van der Goes, will be celebrated at the Canadian Conference on Medical Education Virtual AGM on April 19, 2021.

Dr. Cary Cuncic
Associate Director of Years 3 and 4, Department of Medicine
Dr. Cuncic is a compassionate and highly competent leader for the MD undergraduate program. Collaborating with program administration and senior faculty to maintain the program’s high standards, she is inclusive and kind to colleagues and students. Dr. Cuncic is a consummate team player and leader.

Dr. Parvathy Nair
Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology
Co Lead, Competency Based Medical Education
Faculty Lead, Undergraduate Accreditation
Dr. Nair is UBC Co-Lead for Competency-Based Medical Education and Accreditation Lead for the UGME Program. She served as the program director for the adult cardiology training program at UBC for 10 years and also served on the RCPSC Cardiology Exam Board and Executive.

Dr. Theresa van der Goes
Assessment Director, Family Medicine Postgraduate Program, Department of Family Practice
Dr. Van der Goes’ outstanding accomplishments set her apart as an excellent leader in medical education. Her confident, intellectual approach is key to the successful implementation of ambitious and innovative work at UBC. She inspires us all to be better as she leads by example.
