Faculty of Medicine researchers are among a group of new and renewed Canada Research Chairs (CRCs) at UBC announced on June 15. The university received funding for a total of eight new chairs and seven renewed chairs.
More than $125 million was invested for 156 new and renewed Chairs at 36 institutions across Canada.
The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), a partner of the program, has also provided more than $6.4 million to 29 Canada Research Chairs at 19 universities across the country for cutting-edge research infrastructure. Through its John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF), a combined total of $700,384 in JELF Funding was awarded to five new UBC Canada Research Chairs including Faculty of Medicine researchers Drs. Anne Gadermann, Tillie-Louis Hackett, Megan Levings, Eugenia Oviedo-Joekes and Jill Zwicker.
