Pathways Magazine honoured with a Gold Award of Excellence for Best Publication in Canada

By Faculty of Medicine | June 26, 2023

The UBC Faculty of Medicine’s Office of Creative and Communications (C&C) has received two Awards of Excellence from the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) recognizing Pathways Magazine.

Celebrated annually, the CPRS Awards of Excellence showcase the best public relations and communications management projects and campaigns. This year’s awards were presented at the “Elevate” national conference held in Whistler, B.C.

Pathways: Hope, Accelerated — the sixth edition of the Faculty’s digital and print magazine — was awarded Gold in the Best Publication category and Bronze in the category of Canadian Health Care Campaign of the Year.

“This edition of Pathways shone a spotlight on the Faculty of Medicine’s incredible community of researchers and learners who are accelerating biomedical innovation and bringing lifesaving treatments to patients around the world,” said Katie White, executive director, Office of Creative and Communications. “The team is extremely honoured to have received this award and grateful to all those within the Faculty who do this inspiring work and allow us to amplify their stories.”

With a focus on biomedical innovation, Pathways: Hope, Accelerated, weaves together stories from researchers, educators and learners to bring to life the Faculty of Medicine’s life-saving work. The magazine was an important advocacy tool in support of UBC’s successful application to establish Canada’s Immuno-Engineering and Biomanufacturing Hub.

Dr. Dermot Kelleher, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Vice-President, Health, UBC, shared his appreciation for the achievements of the Office of C&C.

“This recognition speaks volumes about how the Creative and Communications team is elevating the Faculty’s visibility on a global scale,” said Dr. Kelleher. “Their exceptional work conveying the Faculty’s vision, research breakthroughs and educational initiatives has strengthened our reputation and helped garner support for key strategic initiatives.”
