By jwong | May 1, 2018

Aslam Anis

Aslam Anis, Professor in the School of Population and Public Health and Jim Christenson, Head and Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine are recipients of the 2018 Providence Health Care Research and Mission Award. This award recognizes a researcher who demonstrates the mission and values of Providence Health Care while conducting outstanding research.

Dr. Anis is also the Director for the Centre for Health Evaluation & Outcome Sciences since 2006. Dr. Anis’ current and past work is influential across a broad spectrum of health research domains including HIV/AIDS, rheumatoid arthritis, substance use and addiction treatment, among others. He has published over 220 peer-reviewed manuscripts and regularly presents at national and international conferences as an expert in his field.

Jim Christenson

Dr. Christenson is the Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine since 2010. He is involved in developing a well-connected community of emergency physicians across the province and in galvanizing the faculty in the Department to support and facilitate the best care possible in the 107 hospital emergency departments in British Columbia.

The award will be presented to the recipients at both the annual Providence Health Care Research Institute’s Research Day event on June 6, and again at their Annual General Meeting on June 18.
