Four members of the Faculty of Medicine are being recognized by UBC’s Faculty Research Awards. Winners of these awards were selected by UBC’s Faculty Research Award Committee, which spans arts and humanities, business, education, applied science, science and medicine.
The four faculty members recognized are:
UBC Killam Research Fellowships
Pat Camp
Associate Professor, Department of Physical Therapy
Dr. Pat Camp’s research focuses on the diagnosis and management of individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Corinne Hohl
Associate Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine
Dr. Corinne Hohl’s research interests are in emergency medicine, drug safety and effectiveness and adverse drug event surveillance. Together with her team, she has developed interventions to improve the recognition and treatment of patients affected by adverse drug events in Emergency Departments.

Jayachandran Kizhakkedathu
Associate Professor, Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine
Dr. Jayachandran Kizhakkedathu’s research lies in various aspects of biomaterial research for applications involving blood and polymers.
President’s Award for Public Education Through Media
Ian Pike
Professor, Department of Pediatrics
Dr. Ian Pike’s research is related to awareness, attitudes and behaviours among recreational boaters in British Columbia. His project aims to study recreational boaters in BC, and to develop a campaign to increase safety practices and reduce drowning.
The recipients will be honoured at a reception held on April 17, 2018 in the Glass Lobby of the Chan Centre.
