Faculty of medicine members named to Vancouver Magazine’s 2022 Power 50 list

A number of UBC faculty of medicine members have been named to Vancouver Magazine’s 2022 Power 50 List.

The list recognizes change-makers in Vancouver who are shaping the community. UBC president and vice-chancellor Santa Ono and Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond, academic director, UBC Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre were also named to the list.

The list also recognized:

Dr. Penny Ballem, clinical professor of medicine, was recognized for her role as the executive lead for B.C.’s COVID-19 immunization efforts.

Dr. Pieter Cullis, a professor in the faculty of medicine’s department of biochemistry and molecular biology, was recognized for his pioneering work on mRNA vaccines and his role in the biotech sector.

Dr. Patricia Daly, clinical professor in the School of Population and Public Health, was recognized for her work on the drug crisis and her recommendation of a compassion club model put forward by people with lived experiences.

Dr. Bonnie Henry, clinical associate professor at the School of Population and Public Health, was recognized for her role as the provincial health officer during the COVID-19 pandemic.
