Adam Peets appointed Assistant Dean, Clinical Education, MD Undergraduate Program

The Faculty of Medicine is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Adam Peets as Assistant Dean, Clinical Education, MD Undergraduate Program.

Dr. Peets obtained his MD at the University of Calgary, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine, subspecialty training in Critical Care Medicine and completion of a Master’s Degree in Medical Education. He was Director of the Master Teacher Program at the University of Calgary from 2007 to 2009 when he relocated to UBC and is now a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Critical Care, Department of Medicine.

Since joining UBC, Dr. Peets has been actively involved in teaching, educational scholarship and educationally-related administrative roles including Associate Head, Education for the Department of Medicine, Program Director for the Critical Care Medicine Residency Program, as well co-chair of the Curriculum Renewal clerkship working group and member of three additional working groups. He has also held appointments as a Junior Scholar at Centre for Health Education Scholarship and a Research Scientist at the Centre for Health Evaluation and Outcome Sciences. His research interests include sleep-deprivation in healthcare professionals and simulation in health care.

In this new role, Dr. Peets will provide global academic leadership for clinical education across all distributed sites of the UBC MD Undergraduate Program, reporting to the Regional Associate Dean, Vancouver Fraser. He will also advise on the development and planning of clinical education in the renewed curriculum.
