Bita Imam

Bita Imam

Bita Imam, a Ph.D candidate in Rehabilitation Sciences, has received the 2013 Rising Star Award from Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute (VCHRI).

The award, given to trainees who are outstanding role models, recognized her research achievements, involvement in other research activities and volunteer work. Bita’s doctoral research involves conducting a randomized controlled trial to investigate the use of a home-oriented Nintendo Wii Fit program to improve walking in older adults with a lower limb amputation.

In addition to her doctoral research, Bita is involved with other research projects, including understanding the course of fatigue in individuals with a spinal cord injury. To date, Bita has been a co-author of peer-reviewed publications.

Beyond her research, Bita is a co-founder and director of the Light, Hope and Life charitable organization, which raises money for the education of impoverished children across the world.
