Kevin Eva, Associate Director and Senior Scientist in the Centre for Health Education Scholarship, and Professor and Director of Educational Research and Scholarship in the Department of Medicine, and Roxana Geoffrion, Program Director, Advanced Training and Assistant Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology are recipients of the 2016 Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) awards. The AFMC 2016 awards celebrate excellence in medical education in Canada.

Dr. Kevin Eva
Dr. Eva receives the AFMC President’s Award for Exemplary National Leadership in Academic Medicine. The award recognizes excellence for national leadership in academic medicine. Activities might include providing leadership on national collaborative activities that provide frameworks for curriculum in health education; guidelines for faculty on teaching approaches or recruitment and student support, faculty affairs; advocacy for excellence in medical education or research in medical education; bio-medical or health services research.

Dr. Roxana Geoffrion
Dr. Geoffrion receives the AFMC Clinical Teacher Award. This award aims to emphasize the importance of excellence in clinical teaching and to recognize an individual in Canada who has provided exceptional clinical teaching contribution. The AFMC Clinical Teacher Award recognizes individuals who have a sustained track record as outstanding teachers to medical students, residents and other health profession students.
The awards will be presented during the AFMC Presidential Address and Awards Ceremony at the Canadian Conference in Medical Education (CCME) on April 17th at the Saint-François Room (Fairmont).
