Garey Mazowita named President of the College of Family Physicians of Canada

Garey Mazowita, clinical professor in the Department of Family Practice has been elected the next president of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).  The announcement was made during the annual meeting held on November 14 at College’s Family Medicine Forum in Quebec City.

The CFPC is the professional organization responsible for establishing standards for the training and certification of family physicians, and represents 30,000 members across the country.

Dr. Mazowita relocated to Vancouver in 2003 where he became Chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Providence Health Care.  Currently, he remains active in teaching, research, and clinical practice.
