Dr. Dianne Miller

Dianne Miller, Associate Professor, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology has received the 2015 Virginia Greene Leadership Award for her leadership in the field of ovarian cancer. This prestigious award, presented by Ovarian Cancer Canada, recognizes an individual’s outstanding contribution to the advancement of awareness, knowledge transfer, support, and research in ovarian cancer. The Virginia Greene Award was established by Virginia’s daughter, Justine, in memory of her mother who was a leading British Columbia business woman and ovarian cancer advocate. Virginia passed away from the disease in 2010. The inaugural award in 2011 was presented to Dr. David Huntsman, co-founder and current Director of OVCARE.

This honor recognizes Dr. Miller’s leadership as co-founder of the unique OVCARE research program at Vancouver General Hospital, BC Cancer Agency and UBC. It also recognizes her work clinically and in translational research for which she is held in high regard nationally and internationally. In 2010, she launched the world’s first population-based ovarian cancer prevention program, recommending changes to clinical and surgical practice to prevent ovarian cancer.

The Award will be presented to Dr. Miller at LOVE HER, a fashionable evening in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada. This special event takes place on April 22 at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver.
