UBC’s 2023 Partnership Recognition and Exploration fund boosts collaborative projects

UBC Faculty of Medicine community members are co-leading three projects that received a funding boost from UBC’s 2023 Partnership Recognition and Exploration (PRE) fund, a collaborative community-university initiative.

The PRE Fund awards up to $1,500 to bridge small resource gaps, enabling community partners to forge reciprocal relationships with the university. Since 2017, the fund has invested more than $547,000 in 361 community-university partnerships, with approximately 50 per cent of the funding supporting IBPOC-led community organizations.

A Study of Reduced Dosing of the Nonavalent HPV Vaccine in Women Living with HIV 

  • UBC Partner | Student: Elisabeth McClymont, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Community Partner: Sarah Chown, AIDS Vancouver

BC Grief Support Network: Peer Grief/Bereavement Support for Young Adults 

  • UBC Partner | Student: Lucas Chang, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences
  • Community Partner: Heather Mohan, Lumara Grief and Bereavement Care Society

20th Anniversary Celebration of the Aboriginal Steering Committee 

  • UBC Partner | Staff: Shannon Piedt, Human Early Learning Partnership at the School of Population and Public Health
  • Community Partner: Lori Huston, Aboriginal Steering Committee
