UBC Medicine researchers awarded 2022 Innovation and Translational Research Awards

Six researchers from UBC Medicine have been awarded 2022 Innovation and Translational Research Awards from the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute (VCHRI).

VCHRI’s Innovative and Translation Research Awards fund innovative research that will improve health care systems and the well-being of patients across Vancouver Coastal Health and Providence Health Care. This year’s recipients are putting new knowledge into practice, implementing research outcomes and turning discoveries into commercial opportunities.

The Faculty of Medicine recipients are:

Dr. Piotr Kozlowski, associate professor in the department of radiology and department of urologic sciences

Dr. Andrea MacNeill, clinical associate professor in the department of surgery

Study: Food as medicine: transforming hospital food systems for improved patient care and planetary health (Learn more)

Dr. Kenneth Madden, professor and Allan M. McGavin Chair in Geriatric Medicine in the division of geriatric medicine

Study: The use of machine learning detection of lipohypertrophy to improve glycemic variability (Learn more)

Dr. Alex Scott, professor in the department of physical therapy

Dr. Mypinder Sekhon, clinical assistant professor in the division of critical care medicine
