By jwong | March 12, 2018

Mark Ansermino, Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics receives the Research Recognition Award from the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society. The award honours a researcher who has contributed to and sustained major contributions in anesthesia research in Canada.

Dr. Ansermino is an anesthesiologist and a health informatician with clinical experience spanning more than 20 years in four countries. As a co-founder of UBC’s Electrical and Computer Engineering in Medicine (ECEM) research group, he has established strong research links between engineers and healthcare professionals. His supervision of medical, engineering, and computing and informatics students reflects the breadth of his involvement. ECEM’s innovations in the development of technology have led to significant advances in the field of physiological monitoring.
