Mackenzie Lawrence

By jwong | August 24, 2017

Program: MSc. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Year in program: 1st year
Hometown: Paris, ON

What inspired you to pursue your program?
As an undergrad, I worked as a research assistant and really enjoyed being in the lab. Understanding how things work on a molecular level fascinates me and is ultimately why I decided to pursue graduate studies in biochemistry.

What are you looking forward to most this upcoming year?
We just wrapped up a project this spring and I’m really excited to pick up and work on another. Research aside, I am looking forward to skiing and continue to enjoy what is left of the climbing season.

What’s one thing we might be surprised to learn about you?
I have a two-year-old dog named Nora. She is from Ontario like me and loves swimming in the ocean and climbing mountains.

Best piece of advice:
If it’s sunny, go outside.

What superpower do you wish you had?
Does magic count as a superpower? Who hasn’t read Harry Potter and thought, I want to be a witch or a wizard.

Where in the world would you like to get lost?
South America
