Nizal Sarrafzadegan receives the State of Kuwait’s Non Communicable Disease (NCD) Prevention and Control Award

Nizal Sarrafzadegan, Affiliate Professor with the School of Population and Public Health (SPPH), was recognized with the State of Kuwait’s Non Communicable Disease (NCD) Prevention and Control award for her significant contributions to the field of cardiovascular disease.

The award was presented during the 63rd session of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR).

Dr. Sarrafzadegan is the founding Director of the Isfahan Cardiovascular Research Institute (ICRI) – a WHO collaboration which consists of seven research centres in the EMR – and a Professor of Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the Isfahan University in Iran. She is also an appointed member of the WHO global expert advisory panel for NCD’s and has authored numerous scientific papers in national and international journals.

Her current research focuses on the field of personalized medicine in cardiology and shared aspects of cardiovascular disease and cancers.
