Susan Forwell
Susan Forwell, Associate Professor and Department Head, Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy, has been named the recipient of the prestigious Townsend & Polatajko Lectureship. This biennial lectureship is awarded to someone who has not only contributed to promoting and fostering occupational science (OS) in Canada and globally, but who have made significant contributions to leadership in occupational science and advancing the OS literature.
Dr. Forwell’s research in occupational science includes community integration and life transition from an occupational perspective that has led to the development of a process model for predictable life transitions. She is currently conducting research to address unpredictable life transitions from an occupational perspective. She has developed the notion of occupational comfort and is interested in looking at its relationship to a broad base of metrics including biomarkers and quality of life. She is on the editorial board of the Journal of Occupational Science and is Chair of the International Society of Occupational Science.
Dr. Forwell was awarded the Townsend & Polatajko Lectureship and delivered the address at the joint research conference of the Canadian Society of Occupational Scientists and the Society for the Study of Occupation: USA, which took place Portland, Maine, from September 28-October 1, 2016.
