Program: Bachelor of Midwifery
Hometown: Vancouver, BC

Zoe Hodgson_300X350What have you enjoyed most about your experience with the Midwifery program at UBC?

I have really enjoyed my clinical placements and appreciated the opportunity to work in, not only a variety of midwifery practices, but also with interprofessional maternity care providers.

What has surprised or challenged you?

I was surprised by the quality of relationships I built with both my classmates and clinical preceptors.

What advice would you offer to incoming students?

Try to find balance. Midwifery can be all consuming and I cannot highlight the importance of spending time with your friends and family enough. Take one step at a time and celebrate small victories.

What’s one thing that we might be surprised to learn about you?

In the past I lived in the Kalahari Desert, South Africa, researching meerkat behaviour.

What’s next for you?

I’ll be working at the South Community Birth Program, in Vancouver, from July.
