Meet the Grads

Patricia Daduica

By sarah stenabaugh | May 12, 2017

Hometown: Prince George, BC
Program: Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science

Patricia Daduica

What attracted you to your field?
My mom encouraged me to apply to the Medical Laboratory Technologist diploma program in Prince George because of my love of science, lab work and working in a health care setting. During my first week of practicum, the laboratory personnel team saved a patient’s life who was brought in as a code trauma. In that moment, I realized that I had found something I could do for the rest of my life.

In 10 years, what UBC moment will you still be talking about?
The fantastic group of friends I made through the BMLSc program. I will fondly remember all the early morning study sessions at the UBC Hospital cafeteria as well as what a support system we were for each other through these 2 years!

What’s next for you?
Working as a registered technologist and just taking a bit of a break from school for the time being!

As you look ahead, who inspires you?
Two of the most influential people in my life have been my parents, who’ve always encouraged me to go ‘all the way’ and have always guided me down the right path of where I need to end up. They know me better than I know myself and can see so much in me that I often can’t!

Name one thing on your bucket list.
Road trip across Canada!
