Meet our Students

Lola Akinlaja

By sarah stenabaugh | August 16, 2018

Hometown: Abuja, Nigeria
Program: Master of Science, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Year in Program: 2

What inspired you to pursue your program?

I love to learn and research is such a great opportunity to do that. Science is also such a powerful tool in solving world problems, especially in the area of healthcare that I am interested in.

What are you looking forward to most this upcoming year?

I’m really looking forward to getting great results from my experiments, meeting new people and collaborating with others.

Best piece of advice:

Don’t be afraid to ask questions when you don’t know the answer and don’t feel intimidated by anyone. You’re just as capable.

First job

Laboratory assistant for first year chemistry lab during my undergrad.

What’s next on your BC bucket list?

Definitely Whistler!
