What does the Faculty’s vision Transforming Health for Everyone mean to you as a resident doctor?

The emergency department cares for everyone, so to me, “Transforming Health for Everyone,” means striving for better, safer and more equitable care for all, even during times of system strain. Every day, I am inspired by my colleagues and mentors who continue to adapt and step in to help patients who may have nowhere else to go. As a resident doctor, I am proud to learn from and contribute to this dependable and caring safety net upon which everyone can rely.

What’s your favourite part about training in the community you’re in?

Serving our province’s largest health region, Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) offers a phenomenal mix of teaching, innovation and clinical care. The diverse health care needs of patients who come to RCH keep me engaged, challenged and motivated at work. I also love the hospital’s collegial environment both within the emergency department and throughout the hospital as a whole. For such a large and capable centre, I am struck by how friendly, welcoming and small the hospital community feels.
