Dr. Ines Zuna

By Alex Tsui | February 1, 2024

Program: Anesthesiology
Location: Vancouver
Year in Program: 2

What does the Faculty’s vision Transforming Health for Everyone mean to you as a resident doctor?

Our Faculty’s vision is one that reminds me of this universal proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” I meet patients in various states of health requiring elective, urgent or life-saving surgery. Providing these individuals with safe and effective care is a result of our strong peri-operative teams and the expertise every person offers, from our administrative staff to recovery nurses. I am constantly learning and witnessing how team dynamics can solve even the most complicated problems. One day, I hope to be able to use these learnings from residency to address the broader problems we face within healthcare.

What’s your favourite part about training in the community you’re in?

Vancouver is home to a variety of hospital sites, each providing care to different patient populations with varying health issues. I love that there is so much variety across these sites because I am constantly challenged to think more broadly and to stretch my capabilities. Because our residency program is so large, I also get the chance to connect with so many residents in the program, which has helped me feel right at home within this community.
