Indigenous Health, Clinical Education Lead (CEL), Southern Medical Program (SMP)

The University of British Columbia, Southern Medical Program (SMP) invites applications for the position of Indigenous Health Clinical Education Leader (“CEL”). This is a two-year term appointment with a time commitment of a 0.1 FTE (4 hours or 1/2 a day per week) and for the commitment to vary from week to week.

In response to Truth and Reconciliation call to action #23, the SMP Indigenous Health Clinical Education Leader (“CEL”) will develop and foster relationships with Indigenous health leaders and knowledge keepers across the Interior region of BC. They would lead the development of clinical learning opportunities in Indigenous health for students in the MD undergraduate program (MDUP).

The incumbent will have lived experience of Indigenous worldviews, cultures and values, with a strong understanding of diverse Indigenous knowledge systems and practices with experience building relationships with Indigenous communities. They will hold an MD designation and hold, or be eligible for a UBC faculty appointment. The incumbent must have sufficient protected time during the working week to fulfill the requirements of this role; there is flexibility regarding meeting times and work completion hours.

The CEL reports to the Regional Associate Dean, Interior and will liaise with UGME Indigenous faculty lead, SMP Year 3 Rural Family Medicine lead, SMP Year 4 electives lead and SMP Indigenous Initiatives Coordinator.

The expected start date is June 15th 2025 or negotiable.
