Stephanie Harvard, a fourth-year student at the School of Population and Public Health, has been chosen to represent UBC in the Universitas 21 Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) 2014 Competition.
Harvard’s winning presentation at UBC, which was delivered in person to a live audience, was devoted to the topic “Does Quality of Spondyloarthritis Care Affect Costs and Outcomes?” The global final competition will be conducted through recorded videos that are posted online.
The 3MT competition, first developed by the University of Queensland in 2008, seeks to challenge research students to communicate the significance of their projects to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes.
Each participating university holds its own internal 3MT competition, with the winners then entered into the U21 final. The videos will be judged by an international panel consisting of industry and academic professionals. The public also is invited to vote for a “People’s Choice Award.”
