Clinical Skills Site Director, Southern Medical Program (SMP)

The University of British Columbia, Southern Medical Program (SMP) invites applications for the position of Clinical Skills Site Director. This is a three-year term appointment with a time commitment of 0.4 FTE, equivalent to 2 days per week. The position is based at the Clinical Academic Campus (CAC), at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH).

The Clinical Skills Site Director, SMP provides leadership for site-specific delivery of clinical skills curriculum. This individual works in close collaboration with the UGME Clinical Skills Lead, the other Clinical Skills Site Directors and Program Managers across the province, and SMP educational leadership team to ensure the goals and objectives of the clinical skills curriculum are met (Curriculum Management – MedNet).

The incumbent will be a local physician with a commitment to the development of medical education in the Interior. The incumbent must have sufficient protected time during the working week to fulfill the requirements of this role; there is flexibility regarding meeting times and work completion hours. Applicants must currently hold or be eligible to hold a UBC clinical faculty appointment. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of the MD Undergraduate Program and will demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as proven administrative ability combined with outstanding communication skills.

The Clinical Skills Site Director, SMP, reports directly to the Regional Associate Dean (RAD), Interior and meets regularly with the RAD to ensure clear lines of communication are maintained and mutual needs and expectations are met. The Director receives direction from the UGME (provincial) Clinical Skills Lead on curriculum, assessment and comparability matters.

The expected start date is July 1st 2025 or negotiable.
