Associate Program Director, Undergraduate Education, Department of Medicine

The Department of Medicine at The University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for the position of Associate Program Director, Undergraduate Education. This is a role requiring a time commitment of 0.10 FTE (1/2 day per week) for a 1 year term and is expected to be filled by a candidate internal to the faculty. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2023, or upon a date to be mutually agreed.

The UBC Department of Medicine has training programs at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels, and pursues research to make innovative advancements in knowledge and practice to improve health. The Department provides excellence in research, teaching, and clinical services related to the nature, cause, and prevention of adult diseases. We are the largest department in the Faculty of Medicine, with over 1,500 faculty and staff. The Department of Medicine includes 18 divisions with faculty located throughout the province of British Columbia.

Reporting to the Program Director, Undergraduate Medical Education and the Associate Head of Education, UBC Department of Medicine, the Associate Program Director will work extensively with Year 4 students and staff of the UBC Faculty of Medicine at local and distributed sites. They are expected to keep abreast of the current UBC Undergraduate program policies and procedures and will ensure ongoing accreditation of the Program by the accrediting bodies. The successful candidate will oversee the maintenance and expansion of Internal Medicine Year 4 electives province wide and assist the Program Director with curriculum improvement design and implementation.

The successful candidate will hold an MD and will have extensive knowledge of the undergraduate medical education program at UBC, within Canada, and abroad.
