Bruce McManus appointed a Member of the Order of Canada

Bruce McManus

​Bruce McManus, Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, has been appointed a Member of the Order of Canada.

Created in 1967, the Order of Canada, recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation. Dr. McManus was one of 105 new appointments announced by the Governor General of Canada Julie Payette. He is being recognized for his translational research which has led to advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease and organ failure in Canada.

The former Head of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Director of the James Hogg Research Centre, Dr. McManus is widely appreciated for his research, mentoring and leadership contributions to the health sciences.

Dr. McManus is currently the CEO of the Centre of Excellence for Prevention of Organ Failure (PROOF Centre) and Co-Director of the Institute for Heart + Lung Health.
