Jae Lee, Lab Manager at ICORD, received the 2012 UBC President’s Staff Award for Emerging Leadership.
Lee started at ICORD as a student technician. After completing his master’s degree in 2010, he worked as a research scientist before becoming lab manager in June 2011. During his five years at ICORD, Lee has contributed to numerous scientific publications.
When a patient is enrolled in the ICORD clinical trial, Lee assists the nurses at any time of the day, helping the patient and their family to understand ICORD’s research and mission. In addition to his work in clinical research, Lee mentors and coaches student volunteers to help them develop their skills.
The UBC President’s Staff Awards (Vancouver Campus) recognize the personal achievements and contributions of staff to UBC and to the vision and goals of the University.
