For the third year in a row, the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s Office of Creative and Communications (C&C) has received a top international award — this time from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

The C&C team received the 2025 AAMC GIA Award of Excellence for Best Single or Special Issue (Silver) for Pathways, the Faculty’s digital and print magazine. The award honours “the most creative and effective approaches used to promote academic medicine through alumni relations, communications, development, marketing, and public affairs programs and projects.”
Focused on climate change, the award-winning issue of Pathways combines traditional and interactive storytelling to bring Faculty of Medicine research and education initiatives to vivid life — showing how we can protect our health and make health systems more equitable and better for the environment.
“The team does incredibly innovative and valuable work to bring the Faculty’s vision and its excellence in research and education to local, national and global audiences — truly enhancing our visibility and reputation.”

“We’re thrilled to receive this recognition,” says Katie White, executive director of the Office of Creative and Communications. “With Pathways, our goal is always to find new and compelling ways to highlight the Faculty’s transformational impact here in British Columbia, across Canada and around the world. We’re grateful to the many outstanding researchers, learners, faculty and stuff who trust us to share their extraordinary work.”
Dr. Dermot Kelleher, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Vice-President, Health, UBC, shared his appreciation for the accomplishments of the C&C team: “Global awards such as these clearly show the impact and dedication of our Office of Creative and Communications,” he said.
