Canada Research Chair in Patient-Oriented Knowledge Translation
Linda Li, an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, uses digital technology to develop accessible tools and methods to improve how research can be used by people to prevent disease and improve treatment decisions. Her research has identified incomplete discussions about treatment options during medical visits as a major barrier for patients to make informed choices. Her team has used that knowledge to develop an online patient decision aid based on the best research evidence on the first-line arthritis treatment. They have shown that this tool, which is available for public use, improves the quality of patients’ decisions. She is excited to extend this line of research to focus on underserviced populations, including people living in rural and remote communities and immigrant populations.
