Dr. Gabrielle Wilson

By dcc2012 | January 29, 2024

Program: Indigenous Family Medicine
Location: Victoria
Year in Program: 2

What does the Faculty’s vision Transforming Health for Everyone mean to you as a resident doctor?

As a resident doctor who identifies with both settler and Indigenous ancestry, “transforming health for everyone,” means taking responsibility for my own health and wellness to ensure I am well physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. As a result of the limited access to medical care in some parts of the world, it is important to be preventative with our health and take care of ourselves in the best way we can.

It also prompts me to think about our responsibility to make the world a better place than we found it, to advocate for environmental health to sustain our life on Turtle Island (Earth).

What’s your favourite part about training in the community you’re in?

My favourite part about training in Victoria is the beautiful scenery and weather. If there are difficult days at work, I can drive home and admire the mountains, or visit the ocean or rainforest to clear my mind.
