Family Medicine Co-Director (Years 1/2), Vancouver Fraser Medical Program (VFMP)

The Faculty of Medicine at The University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for the position of Family Medicine Co-director (Years 1/2), Vancouver Fraser Medical Program (VFMP). This is a 0.4 FTE (2 days per week) position for a three (3) year term with the possibility of renewal, subject to satisfactory review, and is expected to be filled by a candidate internal to the Faculty.

The University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with the Provincial Government, is committed to training the health professionals of the future. The VFMP Family Medicine Co-director (Years 1/2) works collaboratively with the other VFMP Co-director(s) to plan, organize and deliver the family medicine components of the MEDD courses in Years 1 and 2 at VFMP. To ensure the goals and objectives are met, the appointee collaborates with the Family Medicine Directors for the Southern Medical Program (SMP), Island Medical Program (IMP), and Northern Medical Program (NMP) as well as the Provincial Family Medicine Director; Clinical Skills Directors; and other course directors, such as the Years 1/2 MEDD Course Directors.

The Family Medicine Co-director (Years 1/2), VFMP, reports to the Regional Associate Dean, Vancouver Fraser and is accountable to the Year 1/2 provincial family medicine director for content and continuous quality improvement of the family medicine curriculum. 

The successful candidate will hold an MD. The VFMP Family Medicine Co-director (Years 1/2) will be a local practicing family physician with a commitment to the development of medical education in the Vancouver-Fraser Medical Program, and an open and flexible approach to collaborative leadership. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the undergraduate medical education curriculum, preferably with experience in teaching; have experience in recruiting faculty/teachers; interested in pursuing innovative ways of teaching family medicine content with a commitment to medical education; have experience in the clinical setting, with profile and credibility in the local community; demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence and applies an equity and inclusion framework to their work; ability to work effectively with learners, faculty and administrative leadership; and have administrative experience, excellent organizational and time management skills. Applicants must have a current UBC academic or clinical faculty appointment or be eligible to hold a UBC appointment

 The expected pay (or pay range) for this position is $60,000 per annum at 0.4 FTE.
