Ruth Lavergne recognized for contribution to student development

By Patricia Angel | April 3, 2013

St Dev Awards 13 046Ruth Lavergne, a PhD student at the Centre for Health Services & Policy Research in the School of Population & Public Health, will receive the 2012/13 Margaret Fulton Award from UBC’s Office of the Vice-President, Students.

The Margaret Fulton Award is granted to an outstanding individual (student, faculty, or staff) who has made a contribution to student development and the university community.

Fulton’s research thesis examines how we measure and explain geographic variation in health services use, with a focus on rural and remote contexts. She also collaborates on research that uses provincial administrative data to inform physician resource policy. Current projects examine variations in physician practice patterns, trends in retirement, and the impact of incentives paid to family practitioners on patient care. She holds an MSc in Community Health and Epidemiology from Dalhousie University, and a BSc from the University of Toronto.

Ruth received her award at a reception for Student Development Award winners on April 18.
