A team of students from the Masters of Public Health (MPH) Program recently placed first at the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) Annual Student Case Competition held in Ottawa, ON.

The UBC team consisted of Laura Ball, Petra Lolic, Zahra Remtulla, Jackie Siegel, and Crystal Sun. The team was supported by Dr. Chris Lovato, a professor in the School of Population and Public Health and director of the Evaluation Studies Unit, UBC Faculty of Medicine.

The CES Student Case Competition is widely recognized in the field of evaluation and provides national visibility and pride of accomplishment for both the students and UBC. In round one of the competition, 21 student teams from across the country had five hours to prepare a written analysis of an evaluation case that was judged by a national panel of experts.

The UBC-MPH team was one of three winning teams selected to advance to the final competition. The final competition was held at the CES Annual Conference in June, where the three winning teams from round one analyzed a new case and presented findings and recommendations before a live audience.

Visit the CES Student Case Competition website for more information.
