VFMP Faculty Development Associate

The UBC’s Vancouver Fraser Medical Program (VFMP), Faculty of Medicine invites applications for the VFMP Faculty Development Associate position, which offer the opportunity to contribute to faculty development across the Vancouver-Fraser region. Please note that the program is recruiting for two (2) openings.

Both are nine-month term administrative appointments at 0.1 FTE (equivalent to 0.5 days per week), renewable subject to satisfactory review. The incumbents must have sufficient protected time during the working week to fulfill the requirements of this role.

The VFMP Faculty Development team supports faculty across the Vancouver-Fraser region through teaching development, learner assessment, and peer networking. The VFMP Faculty Development Associate will work closely with the VFMP Faculty Development Director and team to engage and support faculty members in their teaching practice. This position is ideal for an educator passionate about medical education, mentorship, and fostering excellence in teaching within the UBC MD Undergraduate Program.

Responsibilities

  • Increases the participation and engagement of relevant faculty members in faculty development activities across the Vancouver-Fraser distributed sites
  • Delivers faculty development sessions to the Vancouver Fraser faculty, including required orientation and training as well as supplementary sessions.
  • Adopts a continuous quality improvement approach by reviewing and responding to evaluation data on faculty development activities.
  • Contributes to and fosters a positive and safe working and learning environment where support and recognition is provided for faculty and staff and professionalism standards are maintained by all learners through education and mentorship
  • Provides summaries as required at the request of the VFMP Faculty Development Director(s)

The successful candidates will be passionate about undergraduate medical education and have a desire to support teachers in their work in teaching the future doctors of BC. They will be responsible for contributing to a sense of community and engagement among VFMP teachers and facilitating faculty development among VFMP teachers.

The VFMP Faculty Development Associate(s) report to the VFMP Faculty Development Director. 

Qualifications

  • Holds or is eligible to hold a UBC faculty appointment
  • Holds a MD or equivalent designation or hold a PhD
  • Experience in teaching in the UBC MD Undergraduate Program
