Beyond 75: Imagining the future of medicine at UBC

The Faculty of Medicine’s 75th anniversary is an opportunity to look forward and think big. What are the opportunities and challenges we should be thinking about over the next 10 years and beyond?

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Vancouver for Beyond 75: Imagining the future of medicine at UBC.  

At this special event, more than 150 faculty, staff and learners, as well as health partners from urban, rural and Indigenous communities, came together to celebrate, and share their ideas and hopes for the future.

Dr. Benoit-Antoine Bacon, UBC President and Vice-Chancellor, congratulated the Faculty on 75 years of remarkable achievement. He also acknowledged the challenges and fundamental work that lays ahead — and how the Faculty can continue to transform health for everyone.

Dr. Cary Cuncic, Regional Associate Dean, Vancouver Fraser, reflected on the Faculty’s incredible commitment to training doctors, health professionals and researchers to meet the evolving healthcare needs of communities across the region.

Dr. Dermot Kelleher, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Vice-President of Health, UBC, reflected on the remarkable journey of the Faculty, from modest beginnings to one of the top 25 medical schools in the world today. He also shared a personal reflection of what makes the Faculty so extraordinary.
