At this special event, more than 100 faculty, staff and learners, as well as health partners from urban, rural and Indigenous communities, came together to celebrate, and share their ideas and hopes for the future.

Dr. Laura Farrell, Regional Associate Dean, Vancouver Island, reflected on the incredible contributions of the community and accomplishments of the Island Medical Program, now in its 20th year. She also looked ahead to the future of health education and research on the Island.

Dr. Dermot Kelleher, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Vice-President of Health, UBC, reflected on the remarkable journey of the Faculty, from modest beginnings to one of the top 25 medical schools in the world today. He also shared a personal reflection of what makes the Faculty so extraordinary.
