Beyond 75: Imagining the future of medicine at UBC
Interior
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Kelowna for Beyond 75: Imagining the future of medicine at UBC.
At this special event, more than 100 faculty, staff and learners, as well as health partners from urban, rural and Indigenous communities, came together to celebrate, and share their ideas and hopes for the future.
Dr. Sarah McCorquodale, Regional Associate Dean, Interior, reflected on the powerful impact of expanding medical training and research opportunities across the Interior.

“The story of the Southern Medical Program is one of ambition and resilience, and the unwavering commitment to expand medical education into the Interior. We’ve also seen the exceptional growth of research and knowledge exchange and translation, which is making a real difference in local communities.”
Dr. Sarah McCorquodale
Dr. Dermot Kelleher, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Vice-President, Health, UBC, reflected on the remarkable journey of the Faculty, from modest beginnings to one of the top 25 medical schools in the world today. He also shared a personal reflection of what makes the Faculty so extraordinary.
“The magic is relationships. It’s collaboration. It’s people sharing their curiosity, their passion, their experiences and their ideals with the goal of doing better for each and every patient, whatever their needs may be. It’s people coming together across the Faculty of Medicine and with partners, patients and communities, to transform health for everyone.“
Dr. Dermot Kelleher
