Beyond 75: Imagining the future of medicine at UBC
Fraser Region
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Surrey for Beyond 75: Imagining the future of medicine at UBC.
At this special event, faculty, staff and learners, as well as health partners from urban, rural and Indigenous communities, came together to celebrate, and share their ideas and hopes for the future.
Dr. Cary Cuncic, Regional Associate Dean, Vancouver Fraser, reflected on the Faculty’s commitment to training doctors and health professionals in the Fraser, one of the fastest-growing regions in B.C. She also spoke about the growing community of UBC researchers and clinician-scientists in the region whose work is making a difference to local communities.

“Training exceptional doctors and healthcare professionals closer to home fosters deep connections, a sense of belonging and a commitment to serving the region.”
Dr. Cary Cuncic
Dr. Dermot Kelleher, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Vice-President, Health, UBC, reflected on the remarkable journey of the Faculty, from modest beginnings to one of the top 25 medical schools in the world today. He also shared a personal reflection of what makes the Faculty so extraordinary.
“The magic is relationships. It’s collaboration. It’s people sharing their curiosity, their passion, their experiences and their ideals with the goal of doing better for each and every patient, whatever their needs may be. It’s people coming together across the Faculty of Medicine and with partners, patients and communities, to transform health for everyone.“
Dr. Dermot Kelleher
