Hometown: Lagos, Nigeria / Calgary, AB
Program: Vancouver Fraser Medical Program
Year in Program: 1
What inspired you to pursue your program?
The innovation within medicine, the different roles that one can have as a physician (care provider, professor and researcher), and being able to give back to my community attracted me to the career. Furthermore, the vast amount of knowledge that I will gain from medicine intrigues me, and I like that I can use the knowledge gained in a practical way to improve people’s health.
Why did you choose UBC?
I attended UBC for my undergraduate and master’s degrees, and I honestly enjoyed my time at UBC. The campus is beautiful, and the school offers many excellent learning opportunities. UBC also allows me to remain close to the community I have built over the past six years.
What are you most looking forward to this year?
I am excited to start my journey as a physician and be surrounded by people with similar goals to mine. I can’t wait to interact with and learn from excellent professors and doctors who will help shape my career as a physician. I have seen medicine from a patient and clinical research perspective, and I can’t wait to see it from a care provider lens.
