The 2018 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship recipients

Seven doctoral students at the Faculty of Medicine have received a Vanier Canada Graduate Fellowship, which recognizes young researchers who demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the health sciences, the natural sciences and/or engineering, and the social sciences and humanities.

The 2018 recipients are:

Mark Trinder, MD/PhD Program, Faculty of Medicine, supervisor: Dr. Liam Brunham.
Research topic: Genetic influences of lipoprotein metabolism on atherosclerosis and sepsis

Elizabeth Nethery, School of Population and Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, supervisor: Dr. Patricia Janssen.
Research topic: Comparing incidence, risk factors and macrosomia-associated morbidity for midwives v. physician clients in BC and Washington State

Alvin Qiu, MD/PhD Program, Faculty of Medicine, supervisors: Dr. Martin Hirst and Dr. Torsten Nielsen.
Research topic: Epigenomic Dysregulation in Synovial Sarcoma

Erin Marshall, Interdisciplinary Oncology, Faculty of Medicine, supervisor: Dr. Wan Lam.
