UBC Faculty of Medicine members recognized with 2026 CAME Awards

A number of UBC Faculty of Medicine community members have been honoured by the Canadian Association for Medical Education (CAME) with 2026 Certificate of Merit Awards and Rising Star — Certificate of Excellence Awards.


Certificate of Merit Recipients

The Certificate of Merit promotes, recognizes and rewards faculty committed to medical education in Canadian medical schools.

Dr. Christopher Morrow

Executive Medical Director, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) | CPD Director, Island Medical Program (IMP) | Portfolio Site Lead, IMP | Master Teacher, IMP

Dr. Morrow has made key contributions to UBC medical education through his leadership in CPD and as Portfolio Site Lead. He has developed innovative programming, advanced simulation-based and anti-racism training, and inspires learners through exceptional teaching and mentorship.

Dr. Trudy Nasmith

Assistant Program Director, Indigenous Health | Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Medicine

Dr. Nasmith is a general internist at St. Paul’s Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital and a Clinical Associate Professor in the UBC Department of Medicine. As Assistant Program Director for Indigenous Health, she advocates for equitable, accessible care across British Columbia.

Dr. Vincent Wong

Former Co-Site Director (Vancouver-Fraser) and Assessment Co-Director, UBC Family Practice Residency Program

Dr. Wong is a thoughtful, visionary leader who inspires those around him. His dedication and commitment have strengthened the UBC Family Practice Residency both at the program and site level. His work integrates and spans across the medical education continuum from direct teaching to educational leadership.


Rising Star – Certificate of Excellence Recipients

The Rising Star – Certificate of Excellence Awards recognize learners who have demonstrated a commitment and/or passion for medical education.

Dr. Danielle Lynch

Resident, Medical Genetics and Genomics (Class of 2026)

Dr. Danielle Lynch is a Medical Genetics and Genomics resident in her final year of training at UBC. Dr. Lynch is courageous in her pursuit of continued excellence in learning and patient care environments.

Mr. Akash Manes

Undergraduate Student, MD Undergraduate Program (Class of 2027)

Akash is a creative and driven medical student who has advanced medical education through his work in harm reduction and peer-led teaching. His initiatives have supported student learning, leading to a real-world community impact at UBC and beyond.

Dr. Lucas Streith

Graduate Student, General Surgery Resident | PhD Candidate in Health Professions Education (Centre for Health Education Scholarship) (Class of 2027)

Dr. Streith is a PhD candidate in Health Professions Education and general surgery resident at UBC. His scholarly contributions in clinical reasoning and surgical education, educational leadership at UBC and across Canada, and passion for teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels make him a rising star and future leader in medical education.
