Three faculty members receive CAME Certificate of Merit Award

Dr. Maria Hubinette

Three members of the Faculty of Medicine have been named recipients of the 2019 Certificate of Merit Award by the Canadian Association for Medical Education (CAME).

The award recognizes and rewards faculty members who are committed to medical education in 17 medical schools across Canada.

Maria Hubinette, Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Practice and scholar with the Centre for Health Education Scholarship, focuses her work on youth and women’s health. She is the Family Medicine Program Director for the MD Undergraduate Program and holds several other education-related leadership roles.

Dr. Beth Watt

Beth Watt, Clinical Instructor in the Department of Family Practice and one of the founding physicians of the maternity clinic at Langley Memorial Hospital.

Adrian Yee, Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine based at the Island Medical Program, has special interest in treatment of patients with multiple myeloma and lymphoma. He is Director Curriculum for the MD Undergraduate Program.

“The recipients of the Certificate of Merit Award demonstrate a commitment to training the next generation. We are fortunate to benefit from their dedication to give back to students,” said Roger Wong, Executive Associate Dean, Education and chair of the adjudication committee for the awards.

The recipients will be honoured at the CAME Annual General Meeting held in conjunction with the Canadian Conference on Medical Education 2019 in Niagara Falls.
