VFMP Portfolio Site Lead, Student Assessment

The Vancouver Fraser Medical Program at The University of British Columbia invites applications for the position of VFMP Portfolio Site Lead, Student Assessment. The Vancouver-Fraser Medical Program (VFMP) Portfolio Site Lead provides leadership and general oversight of the VFMP Portfolio program. This is an administrative role with a three-year term appointment and a time commitment equivalent to 0.10 FTE (1/2 day per week). The appointee must have sufficient protected time during the work week to fulfill the requirements of this role.

The Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) Program is comprised of four geographically distinct sites: Island Medical Program (IMP), Northern Medical Program (NMP), Southern Medical Program (SMP), and Vancouver-Fraser Medical Program (VFMP). There are 288 seats for incoming students each year, with 192 attending VFMP. The distributed medical program aims to increase rural and Indigenous students seeking medical careers, while also allowing students to complete their training in rural and underserved communities.

The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the provincial UGME Portfolio Assessment Lead and provide general oversight to the Portfolio Program and its delivery at VFMP. This position will oversee the recruitment of VFMP portfolio coaches, liaise with other Portfolio Site Leads and administrative staff, work with VFMP Faculty Development on support and professional development for portfolio coaches, and liaise, as necessary, with other faculty leaders in the UGME.

The ideal candidate will hold an MD or PhD (or equivalent) and have demonstrated excellence and experience in teaching within the UGME Program, administrative experience, excellent organizational and time management skills, collaborative leadership skills, the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and administrative leadership, and excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative negotiation skills. The successful candidate must hold, or be eligible to hold, a UBC faculty appointment.
