Vancouver Fraser Medical Program (VFMP) Faculty Development Associate

The Vancouver Fraser Medical Program (VFMP) at The University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for the position of Vancouver Fraser Medical Program (VFMP) Faculty Development Associate. This is a role requiring a time commitment of 0.05 FTE, equivalent to 110 hours per year, for a one year term, and is expected to be filled by a candidate internal to the faculty. The anticipated start date is fall of 2023.

The Undergraduate Medical Education Program is comprised of four geographically distinct sites: Island Medical Program (IMP), Northern Medical Program (NMP), Southern Medical Program (SMP), and Vancouver-Fraser Medical Program (VFMP). There are 288 seats for incoming students each year, with 192 attending VFMP. The distributed medical program aims to increase rural and Indigenous students seeking medical careers, while also allowing students to complete their training in rural and underserved communities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting a faculty development team in engaging with faculty members and developing our faculty development program, especially our online presence, resources, and interactions with faculty members.  The team is redeveloping its programming to include an online VFMP Teacher’s Hub. We are currently looking to hire several associates who will contribute to our online and in person programs.

The successful candidate will be a practicing physician and have experience in teaching and/or assessment with a commitment to the development of medical education in British Columbia. They must also demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and have proven leadership/administrative abilities. Applicants must have a current UBC academic or clinical faculty appointment or be eligible to have an appointment.
