Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) Exam Lead, Student Assessment

The Undergraduate Medical Education Office at The University of British Columbia invites applications for the position of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) Exam Lead, Student Assessment. This position will be responsible for and supports UGME Director of Student Assessment, ensuring that objectives, milestones, and exit competencies of the undergraduate program are assessed within a programmatic framework.

This role will require a time commitment of 0.20 FTE, equivalent to one (1) day per week, for a three year term, and is expected to be filled by a candidate internal to the Faculty. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2019, or upon a date to be mutually agreed.

The Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) Program is comprised of four geographically distinct sites: Island Medical Program (IMP), Northern Medical Program (NMP), Southern Medical Program (SMP), and Vancouver-Fraser Medical Program (VFMP). There are 288 seats for incoming students each year, with 192 attending VFMP. The distributed medical program aims to increase rural and Indigenous students seeking medical careers, while also allowing students to complete their training in rural and underserved communities.

The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the Director of Student Assessment and be responsible for the delivery and ongoing development of high-quality MCQ exams, and the ongoing sustainability, maintenance, and continuous quality improvement of MCQ banks in the curriculum.

The successful candidate will hold an MD and/or PhD and has demonstrated excellence and teaching within the UGME Program, knowledge of the UBC UGME Program, and familiarity with CACMS accreditation standards. The ideal candidate will have administrative experience, excellent organizational and time management skills, collaborative leadership skills, excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative negotiation skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and administrative leadership.
