Faculty Associate Lead – Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

The Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) Office at The University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for a Faculty Associate Lead – Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. This is an approximately 0.20 to 0.40 FTE (1 to 2 days per week) time commitment for a 3 year term. The anticipated start date of this position is October 1, 2020, or upon a date to be mutually agreed.

The University of British Columbia (UBC) Faculty of Medicine contributes to the health of individuals and communities locally, nationally and internationally by fostering excellence, innovation and scholarship in education, research, and care. Using a province-wide delivery model, nearly 1400 postgraduate learners are currently engaged in training across the province, creating clusters of learning and enhancing service capacity in the Lower Mainland, on the Island, the Interior and in the North — including rural and remote communities of B.C.

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education, the successful candidate will have certification with either the College of Family Physicians of Canada or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Experience in Medical Education and the training requirements of the Royal College of Family Physicians of Canada preferred. Experience as a current or former postgraduate program director is an asset.

The successful candidate will have the ability to be flexible, open, and aware of their own biases when collaborating with stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and different perspectives; the ability to understand the relationship between diversity, inclusion, and excellence; the ability to build internal capacity to respond to difference and diversity; the ability to apply an equity and inclusion framework to their work; the ability to integrate anti-racism, equity, diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect as values in their work; and the ability to lead to improve the experience for a diversity of faculty, staff, and students.
