The Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia is pleased to invite applications for the position of Clinical Skills (CS) 412 Site Director, Vancouver-Fraser Medical Program (VFMP). This is a 0.20 FTE (1 day per week) position for a three (3) year term with the possibility of renewal, subject to satisfactory review, and is expected to be filled by a candidate internal to the Faculty. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2022, or upon a date to be mutually agreed.
The University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with the Provincial Government, is committed to training the health professionals of the future. The Clinical Skills (CS) 412 Site Director, VFMP provides course leadership, planning, maintenance, and delivery of the Clinical Skills components of the MD Undergraduate Program (MDUP) curriculum. The incumbent will work in close collaboration with the UGME Clinical Skills Lead and the other Clinical Skills Site Directors and Program Managers across the province to ensure the goals and objectives of the Clinical Skills curriculum are met.
The Clinical Skills (CS) 412 Site Director, VFMP reports to the jointly to the UGME Clinical Skills Lead and Regional Associate Dean, VFMP. They will meet regularly with the MEDD course teams (Course Directors, Site Directors, Family Practice Site Directors, Clinical Skills Site Directors, and Course Managers), and represent the Clinical Skills components of the MEDD courses at the Regional Student Promotions Subcommittee.
The successful applicant will be a practicing clinician with a commitment to the development of medical education at their site, and an open and flexible approach to collaborative leadership within the MDUP. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in the VFMP, experience in teaching communication skills and/or clinical skills, experience in recruiting faculty/teachers, excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and interest in curriculum leadership, learner education, and student assessment and remediation, and experience in the clinical setting, with profile and credibility in the local community. Applicants must have a current UBC academic or clinical faculty appointment.
